Yes. The FTDI FT232RL chipset is widely supported on macOS and Linux. If the port is not detected automatically, install the latest FTDI driver.
Can I use this as a USB-to-Ethernet adapter?
No. This cable is for serial console communication over RJ45, not Ethernet networking.
What if my device uses a non-standard console pinout?
Most network vendors use standard RJ45 console pinouts. If your device differs, verify the pinout or use the vendor’s recommended adapter.
